Captain Fantastic is the tenth regular studio album by the Fantastischen Vier . It was released on April 27, 2018.
History of origin
Work on the album has been ongoing for two to three years since the last record album . For the album, the band turned to old companions and competitors who were involved in the production of the record. Among others, Denyo von der Beginners , Samy Deluxe , DJ Thomilla and Curse contributed to the album. Guests singer could Clueso the song together , Flo Mega in Hot , Tom Gaebel for Hitsn Reprise and Damion Davis at Carry are obtained.
Publications
The album was released on April 27, 2018 as a download , as a double LP in 180 gram vinyl and as a normal CD edition. In addition, a fan box appeared with several artist portraits and a necklace.
style
Musically, it's a step backwards: The Fantastischen Vier emphasize the hip-hop elements more strongly on the album and deliberately kept the production minimalist. There are fewer melodies on the album, but more punchlines and show-off rap. A concession to the modern zeitgeist is the hinted trap style of the title track.
Compared to the previous albums, Captain Fantastic contains less timeless, more socially critical texts and, according to his own statement, is directed against the increasingly prevailing populism worldwide . So the text of the end times is directed explicitly against Pegida and the so-called angry citizens . For Fanta 4 standards, the text is very direct and not very cryptic, as they otherwise formulate their social criticism. However, the album also contains many happy moments and funny moments.

On the website laut.de was Captain Fantastic rated 3 out of 5 stars. The German-speaking Rolling Stone also rated it 3 out of 5 stars.
“Anyone who perseveres with the jittery 'All beginnings is yeah' (including the 'She's gone' quote) will be rewarded with sentences like 'HipHop is more than dick and image', and then quite a few guests adorn the album, as is the case with HipHoppers it's just as usual: Clueso and Tom Gaebel (really!) sing along, Samy Deluxe and Curse helped a little with the lyrics. It's a hit. "
Andreas Borcholte described the album ambiguously in his review for Spiegel Online :
“Because 'Captain Fantastic' has turned out to be a difficult album, a hybrid of political gravitas and shoulder-tapping ease. Or, to stay in the comic cosmos: a mega blockbuster crossover event that runs out of dramaturgical fuel in the intergalactic spaces it wants to conquer. […] But where should you put this thoroughly sympathetic, positively motivated Fanta power? The tragic dilemma of the righteous rape of 'Captain Fantastic' is: His well-intentioned blows will fizzle out because, one has to fear, they will not hit where the battle is being fought. "

Already on November 17, 2017, a first harbinger of the album appeared with apocalyptic mood . The next music video followed on February 16, 2018 with Tunnel. For the video was a special augmented reality - App for Smartphone developed that allows viewing the video on almost any surface.
The third single together was released on March 23, 2018 before the album. Das Erste chose together as the official song for broadcasting the 2018 World Cup .
The album reached number two in the German charts, number one in Switzerland and number three in Austria. The album was at the top of the German vinyl charts for a month. The single together also reached number two in the German charts.

In November 2018, Captain Fantastic was awarded a gold record in Germany.
