The 4th Dimension is the third regular studio album by the hip-hop group Die Fantastischen Vier . It was released on November 8, 1993 by Sony Music Entertainment . In 2009, on the occasion of the band's 20th stage anniversary, a digitally revised version of the album was released, which also contains bonus tracks.

style

With “The 4th Dimension”, Die Fantastischen Vier completed a style change, as the album's psychedelic cover image suggests, to which the text of the opening piece Neues Land also refers. The remaining texts mainly deal with the human self-image, which was largely retained on the following albums.

The title Tag am Meer is about an LSD trip, as Thomas D announced in an interview in 2010. In addition to the psychedelic text, the title lives from a sample from This Is the Lost Generation by the Lost Generation .

For the first time, Die Fantastischen Vier used electronic sound effects as an essential part of their music, and schizophrenics were raped with an electronically distorted voice. The instrumental titles Weiter weg , Noch weiter weg , Ganz weit weg and Weg form the framework of the album.

Six songs from "The 4th Dimension" were re-recorded in 1994 together with the music group Megalomaniax for the joint project "MEGAVIER".

successes

The album hit the charts in Germany (14th place), Austria (23rd place) and Switzerland (27th place). The single for the song Tag am Meer , re-recorded in 2000 as part of the MTV Unplugged series, made it to number 67 in the German hit parade in the new version.
