MTV Unplugged: Die Fantastischen Vier is a live and acoustic album by the German rap group Die Fantastischen Vier from the MTV Unplugged series. It was released on October 29, 2000 on the Four Music and Sony Music labels as CD and DVD versions. The album was recorded on September 14, 2000 in the Balver cave near Balve .

In 2012 the follow-up album MTV Unplugged II was released , which the group also recorded in the Balver Höhle.

The songs included on the album are from the group's previously released albums. Seven songs were taken from the studio album 4:99 , released the year before . Four tracks come from Die 4. Dimension and two each from Lauschgift as well as live and direct . In addition, a title from the debut album Jetzt geht's ab is included on the live album.

Cover design

The album cover shows a black and white photo of the band performing in the Balver Höhle . In the upper part of the picture are the lettering DieFantastischenVier and Unplugged in white and red respectively.

MTV Unplugged: Die Fantastischen Vier entered the German album charts at number 6 on November 13, 2000 and was at number 7 in the following two weeks before dropping to position 12. Overall, the album stayed in the Top 100 for 28 weeks with interruptions. The record also reached quite high chart positions in Austria and Switzerland. In the German annual charts in 2000, the album was ranked 85th.

The single was the song Tag am Meer , which entered the German charts at number 67 and stayed in the top 100 for six weeks.

Sales figures and awards

For more than 300,000 copies sold, the live album received a platinum record in Germany in 2003 . The DVD version was awarded gold for over 25,000 units sold. In Austria the album also received a gold record in 2001 for more than 10,000 sales .
