Martin Papirowski (born August 15, 1960 in Dortmund ) is a German television journalist , publicist , television producer , screenwriter , university lecturer and director .

Life

Papirowski studied journalism , communication science , history and politics at the Ruhr University in Bochum . In 1981 he founded the production company Media Team , in 1988 the production company team work . From 1981 he created numerous radio features and radio plays , then since 1985 numerous television reports and from 1988 almost exclusively documentaries . Papirowski has worked as a director for the well-known ZDF series Terra X , Quo Vadis - Battles that Made History, Quo Vadis - Scandals of History, With God's Blessing to Hell - The Thirty Years War and Sphinx - Mysteries of History . Also worth mentioning are the films Cäsarenwahn - the drug of power , which appeared in ZDF-History in 2014, and the film Pope Francis - New Power for Jesuits? - also from 2014. In 2016, Papirowski published the documentary film Nero: Pleading for a Beast through his production company Men @ Work Media Services . In 2016 and 2017 respectively, Papirowski directed and co-produced the Terra-X production The Rescue of Palmyra . In 2017, filming began for the Terra X production Prometheus - Departure into Civilization based on the book by Hermann Parzinger .

In addition to numerous documentary films, Papirowski is also active as a book author. In 2016, Papirowski's stereoscopic book Neuschwanstein 3D was published by Emons Verlag in Cologne . Martin Papirowski also held a teaching position at the University of Hanover for the master's degree in television journalism from 2009 to 2013 , with Papirowski's focus being on reenactment , and since 2019 he has been teaching as a lecturer in the MAS in Applied History course at the University of Zurich. Papirowski was the first producer and director to stage major re-enactments in Romania in the mid-1990s and is considered a kind of father of re-enactment television .

At the beginning of 2015, Martin Papirowski and his team broke new ground. For the exhibition PARKOMANIE: The garden landscapes of Prince Pückler in the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, they developed and produced stereoscopic installations with different media. These ranged from the reconstruction of historical 3-D panoramas to large stereoscopic projections with the aim of giving the prince's art in the park a tangible impression. Between 2016 and 2017 Papirowski developed, realized and produced for the exhibition Comic! Mangas! Novel Graphics! 360 ° films in the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn and was entrusted with the virtual implementation of the work of the comic pioneers Richard Felton Outcault and Winsor McCay .
