Thomas von Löwis of Menar , also known as Thomas von Löwis auf Menar or Tom von Löwis (born December 3, 1947 in Mauren ), was a racing driver in the German Touring Car Championship and is now the team boss of the Four Motors racing team for environmentally friendly racing cars. The most popular drivers are Smudo and Tim Schrick .

Life

The ancestors of Thomas von Löwis of Menar come from Scotland and came to Germany via the Baltic States . Part of the extensive aristocratic family has been based in Mauren in Baden-Württemberg since 1830 . Tom, as he is also called, was born there, his father was also connected to racing as a motorcycle racer.

Racing driver

Von Löwis completed his first race in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) in 1987 at the Hockenheimring and his last race in 1992 at the AVUS . In 1987 , 1988 and 1992 he took part in a total of 35 DTM races and was once placed second ( Zolder 1987). One of his partners in 24-hour races, in the DTM and at BMW was Leopold Prince of Bavaria .
