Desiree van Lunteren (born December 30, 1992 in Almere ) is a Dutch soccer player who played for the Dutch women's national soccer team from 2012 to 2019 .

Career

Desiree van Lunteren started playing football as a little girl at her local club SV Almere, then switched to the sc BuitenBoys within the village. From youth C to youth A she played for AS '80 and then switched to HvA-project. From 2009 to 2011 she played for AZ Alkmaar , won the Dutch championship with Alkmaar in 2010 and took part with Alkmaar in the 2009/10 UEFA Women's Champions League , in which the Dutch lost to Brøndby IF in the round of 32 . After Alkmaar withdrew from the Eredivisie due to financial problems , she played for SC Telstar VVNH . In 2012 she moved to the newly founded women's football department at Ajax Amsterdam . With Ajax, she won the Dutch Women's Cup in 2014. After 6 years and 142 games for Ajax, she signed with the Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga club SC Freiburg on June 20, 2018 . After playing 20 games for SC Freiburg in the 2018/2019 season , she returned to AFC Ajax Vrouwen on July 17, 2019 .

National teams

On September 27, 2008, when she was 16, she made her first appearance in the U-19 national team. In qualifying for the U-19 European Women's Football Championship in 2009 , she played a game in the mini-tournament of the first qualifying round in Lithuania against Cyprus. Together with the young Spaniards, the Dutch women qualified for the second round. In this round, held in April, in which the Dutch women failed, it was not used. In September 2009, she then took part in the first qualifying round for the 2010 U-19 European Women's Football Championship . The Dutch women used their home advantage at the mini-tournament and qualified together with Poland for the second round, which was also held in the Netherlands. Once again they were able to use the home advantage and qualify for the finals together with the young Scottish women. At the finals in Macedonia, she reached the semi-finals with her team, but lost it on penalties against England. She was back on board the next time she tried. In September 2010, at a tournament in Norway, the hosts reached the second round and also survived this at a tournament in Denmark. In the finals in Italy in the first round came the corner. This ended her time as a U-19 national player.

The following year she made her debut in the 15 February 2012 senior team at a 1: 2 defeat to France . At the Cyprus Cup 2012 she came to two missions. After that there were only sporadic missions. She was part of the Dutch squad at the European Championship finals , but was not used in the three group matches. The Dutch were eliminated after the preliminary round. After the European Championship, it was used in several qualifying games for the 2015 World Cup and the 2014 Cyprus Cup . In September 2014, the World Cup qualification was finished in second place behind Norway . The Dutch women therefore had to go to the playoffs of the four best runners-up in the group and prevailed against Scotland and Italy , qualifying for the World Cup for the first time. At the Cyprus Cup 2015 , the qualifications could not be confirmed and they lost z. B. the game for 7th place against the Scottish women, who they had eliminated in the World Cup playoffs. On April 15, 2015 she was initially appointed to the provisional squad for the 2015 World Cup and then to the final squad on May 10. At the 2017 European Championship , she played in two group games and the three knockout games and won the title with her team for the first time. In the subsequent qualification for the 2019 World Cup , she was used in four group games and the four playoff games and won the last European World Cup ticket with her team.

In 2019 she took part in the 2019 World Cup in France for the Leeuwinnen and was used in all seven games of the tournament. She was runner-up with the Netherlands after a 2-0 defeat against the USA .

While she has already scored goals for her clubs, including the “Goal of the Month” in February 2013, she did not succeed in the national teams. On November 21, 2019, she announced the end of her national team career after 84 international matches.
