Since the 2007/08 women's football season , the club has had its own women's team. The first coach was Ed Engelkes from the Netherlands , who had already had experience with the Dutch women's national teams. In the first year she was able to win the first championship in the history of the Eredivisie for women . In twenty games against five teams, the team achieved eleven wins and four draws and thus prevailed against pursuers Willem II Tilburg . The biggest victory was in the game against SC Heerenveen , whose women were sent off with 4-0. Overall, the team conceded only 16 goals, which was league top value. On the other hand, there were 29 goals scored by themselves. Only two teams met more often. The best attacker was Claudia van den Heiligenberg , who overcame the opposing goalkeeper nine times. This brought her third place in the scorers list. Through the championship, the team qualified for the UEFA Women's Cup . In group one of the competition, however, she lost two out of three games. Only in the game against the Scottish representative Glasgow Rangers did the AZA women gain a point. The 7-0 defeat against the team from FC Narta Chisinau from Moldova was particularly severe .

In the second league year, the club repeated its success from the previous year. With the purchase of players like Jessica Fishlock from Welsh , the first British woman to play in Dutch women's football, the quality of the squad has improved across the board. Again the opposing teams managed to score only sixteen goals. On the offensive, however , AZ increased and scored 49 goals, twenty more than in the 2007/08 season. Since Roda JC Kerkrade reported a women's team for the first time, the number of teams rose from six to seven. Out of five defeats you had to leave the field without a win in three out of four matches with the women of FC Utrecht . Against the eventual runner-up ADO Den Haag , the team only lost one game and won the remaining three. The Engelkes team consequently defended its title. The storm duo Claudia van den Heiligenberg and Chantal de Ridder scored 21 goals together. In their second attempt to prevail in the UEFA Women's Cup, which has since been renamed the UEFA Women's Champions League and has a new tournament mode, the team failed in their first game against the women from Brøndby IF from Denmark. In the two games it was only enough to score 1: 2 and 1: 1.

Also in 2009/10 the women from Alkmaar went into the championship as favorites. Since Roda JC Kerkrade took the team out of play after only one season, only six clubs started the new season. But again there was no getting around the old master. The AZA started relatively badly with only one win from the first three games, but by the end of the season the team only lost three times and was able to step off the field with twelve successes. This relegated the most stubborn competitor ADO Den Haag back to second place and secured the third championship in a row. In Chantal de Ridder, the league's top scorer was also presented for the first time. You score fourteen goals in twenty games. However, she had to share this title with Sylvia Smit from SC Heerenveen. With only eleven goals against in one season, they set a new record. In addition, Kim Dolstra was awarded the Golden Shoe as the best player in the league .

In the 2010/11 season , the women from AZ Alkmaar fought a three-way battle for the title with FC Twente Enschede and ADO Den Haag . With 43 goals, the second best offensive and with 25 goals conceded the third best defense could be made, which consequently for the first time did not reach the championship title, but only to third place in the table. Chantal de Ridder won the title for top scorer again with 19 goals. After the season, AZ Alkmaar withdrew from league play for financial reasons.
