The 2007/08 eredivisie was the first season of the Dutch women's eredivisie . AZ Alkmaar became the champion .
Season overview
The 2007-08 season was the first women's football season in the history of Dutch professional football. The league started with six teams, each of which played the first women's football champion in four matches against each other. With a total of eleven wins, four draws and only five defeats, AZ Alkmaar prevailed ahead of Willem II Tilburg . The worst team was the SC Heerenveen , which could only achieve two wins. ADO Den Haag had to be content with eight draws during the entire competition . The most aggressive team was Willem II, who scored 41 goals. They had the best storm with Karin Stevens and Dominique Vugts , who together scored 29 goals for their team. Stevens was also the top scorer in the league, ten goals ahead of FC Twente Enschede's Sylvia Smit . With 40 goals conceded, ADO was as bad as any other team. The champions had the best defense with only sixteen goals against. The Belgian Femke Maes was named the best player of the season . She was also the best foreign goalscorer with four goals. The record was broken the following season.
