Gabriele Camphausen

Gabriele Camphausen (* 1957 in Bonn ) is a German historian . She gained public fame primarily through her work as managing director of the Topography of Terror (1998–2001) and as chairwoman of the association “ Berlin Wall - Memorial and Documentation Center eV ” (1998 to 2009). For the latter work she was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin in September 2009 . Before that, she worked as a research assistant at the Museum Berlin Karlshorst and as the scientific director of the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial .

Since 2002 she has been working as the head of the department for political education, since 2016 for exhibitions and key studies in the Stasi records authority . She was curator or co-curator of several exhibitions, such as "Enemy is who thinks differently", "Stasi. The exhibition" and "State security in the SED dictatorship".
