Kaspars Saulietis (born June 12, 1987 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Mogo in the Latvian ice hockey league since 2018 .
Career
Kaspars Saulietis began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown with SK Riga 20 , for whose first team he made his debut in the Latvian ice hockey league in the 2004/05 season . The season ended the winger, however, with the Des Moines Buccaneers in the North American junior league United States Hockey League . For the 2005/06 season he returned to his Latvian homeland, where he took part in the Belarusian extra league with HK Riga 2000 and won the Latvian championship at the same time . In the following season, the right- shooter ran for the Kelowna Rockets and Regina Pats in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League .
After Saulietis was again on the ice for HK Riga 2000 in the Latvian ice hockey league in the 2007/08 season, he signed with Metallurg Schlobin in the Belarusian extra league the following year , before moving from HK Dinamo Minsk during the 2008/09 season was committed, for which he played until January 2010 in the Continental Hockey League . Then his contract was terminated and Saulietis was signed by HC BENZINA Litvínov from the Czech extra league. For Litvínov he completed a total of ten games, in which he remained pointless and penalty.
In May he received a trial contract with Hämeenlinnan Pallokerho , which was extended in August 2010 to the end of the 2010/2011 season. For the 2011/12 season he was committed by HK Nyoman Hrodna from the Belarusian extra league .
In the 2012/13 season he played for HK Sokol Kiev in the Ukrainian ice hockey league , HK Junost Minsk in the Vysschaja Hockey League and Junior Minsk in the Belarusian extra league . He then stood for a year at Toros Neftekamsk in the Vysschaya Hockey League under contract.
Between 2014 and 2017, Saulietis played for Dinamo Riga in the Continental Hockey League before moving to HC Nové Zámky in the Slovakian Extraliga in the 2017/18 season. In summer 2018 he did a try-out at Dinamo Riga, but did not receive a contract. Instead, he then played for HK Mogo in the Latvian ice hockey league and won the championship with Mogo in 2019.
International
For Latvia , Saulietis took part in the junior division of the U18 Junior B World Championships in 2004 and 2005 as well as the U20 Junior B World Championships in 2005 and 2007 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2006 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 2010 and 2011 A-World Championships .
