The Rabobank IJmond Stadion is a football stadium in the Dutch municipality of Velsen in the district of Velsen-Zuid, in the province of North Holland .

history

The stadium, which was built in 1948, now offers 3,625 seats and is used by the teams SC Telstar (men) and SC Telstar VVNH (women) as well as the AZ Alkmaar women's team . During a renovation in 1999, only minor work was carried out. The venue is to be gradually renovated over the next few years. In 2009 a main grandstand designed by Zwarts & Jansma Architects with 1,463 seats was completed. The spaces of the two- story building are covered by a tent membrane that is stretched over a wooden beam construction. In the basement there are u. a. Office space, the changing rooms and medical treatment rooms. On the upper floor there are two separate lounge areas with large windows that offer a good view of the playing field. Opposite the main grandstand is the roofed east grandstand with seats along the playing field. The north tier behind the gate with its standing room is no longer used, as it no longer meets today's requirements for comfort and safety. In 2010 a new standing room was added to the south side of the stadium.

Surname

Until 2009 the venue was called Sportpark Schoonenberg . From 2009 to 2014 the stadium was named after the Indian steel company Tata Steel . This was followed by the advertising-free name Telstar Stadion until 2016 . On February 5, 2016, SC Telstar and the Dutch bank Rabobank IJmond signed a new five-year sponsorship agreement .
