The Parkstad Limburg Stadium is a football stadium in the Dutch municipality of Kerkrade . It was opened in 2000 and holds 19,979 spectators. It was named after Parkstad Limburg , a network of municipalities in the Limburg province .
The club Roda Kerkrade plays its home games in the Parkstad Limburg Stadium . It opened on August 15, 2000 with a friendly game Roda JCs against Real Saragossa , which ended 2-2. The first league encounter took place against FC Twente , also a 2-2 draw.
The Kerkrade stadium was one of six venues at the 2005 Junior World Cup . Eight games were played there; including the opening game and a semi-final.
Because the old Tivoli did not have the seating capacity required by UEFA in European competitions , the German professional club Alemannia Aachen wanted to rent the neighboring Parkstad Limburg Stadium for the home games in the 2004/05 UEFA Cup . However, this was not approved. Instead, Alemannia moved to Cologne's Rheinenergiestadion .
An artificial turf pitch has been installed in the stadium since 2014 .
