Wolf von Lojewski (born July 4, 1937 in Berlin ) is a German television journalist and non-fiction author .

Live and act

As the son of the editor and author Erich von Lojewski (1909-1970), he grew up from 1937 to January 1945 in East Prussia, where his maternal family owned a large estate in Posegnick . After being expelled by the Red Army, he lived in Altenbruch near Cuxhaven and Kiel , where he attended the Kiel School of Academics until 1957 . After graduating from high school, he joined the Bundeswehr as one of the first recruits on April 1, 1957 and served in the Graf Goltz barracks in Hamburg-Rahlstedt . He later studied law and passed the first state examination in law in 1966. He gained journalistic experience as editor-in-chief of the student newspaper The Sketch and the Kieler Nachrichten .

Work for the ARD

Wolf von Lojewski began his television career with reports and presentations for the regional television program of the NDR . There he was also one of the co-founders of the satirical magazine extra 3 in 1976 .

From 1971 to 1974, during the years of the Vietnam War and the Watergate affair , he was a US correspondent in Washington for ARD . Then he took over the moderation of the world mirror and the daily topics . From 1982 he worked for the documentary series Around Big Ben in Great Britain . Between 1987 and 1991 he went back to Washington as a correspondent and reported on the Iraq war , among other things .

Change to ZDF

Wolf von Lojewski then went to the ZDF's heute-journal , where he was in charge and moderation from March 1, 1992 to January 2, 2003.

From March 19, 2003 to December 14, 2005 he hosted the adventure knowledge program . Between 2003 and 2009, von Lojewski also made several documentaries for ZDF.

Social Commitment

Wolf von Lojewski is a sponsor of the Federal Association for Children with Heart Disease . He has been a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany ( SPD ) since 1963 and was a member of the Presidium of the German Evangelical Church Congress from 1996 to 2008 .

Work as a book author

Wolf von Lojewski published several books. Most of them deal with his work as a journalist and correspondent in the USA and Great Britain (America - The dream of a new life and The British are different - experiences around Big Ben) as well as his homeland, the former East Prussia (My home, your home - Encounters in East Prussia and live there - memories of a journalist); but he also published a novel (Noahs Club).

Private life

He is married and lives near Wiesbaden.
