neoParadise was a late night show that was broadcast on ZDFneo every Thursday at around 10:15 p.m. from October 6, 2011 to January 24, 2013 . It was moderated by Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf , better known as the duo Joko and Klaas . The concept of the show is essentially based on that of MTV Home and it was also produced by the same team. The show was discontinued because Winterscheidt and Heufer-Umlauf signed an exclusive contract with ProSieben , where the format was continued from February 2013 to June 2017 in a similar concept under the title Circus HalliGalli .

Structure of the program

After a short stand-up appearance by both moderators, clips and interviews with prominent guests take turns. The moderation of the show and the clips are characterized by ironic rivalries between Joko and Klaas , which compete in categories like Until someone howls or If I were you . In addition, current political and media events are satirically taken up and pop culture quotations are repeatedly incorporated. Unlike before in MTV Home , Palina Rojinski no longer acts as a co-presenter, but only has irregular guest appearances. The singer-songwriter Olli Schulz , the cabaret artist Serdar Somuncu and the actress Violetta Tarnowska Bronner , who as Grandma Violetta is responsible for both amazement and absurd, sometimes Dadaist clips, are also integral parts of the neoParadise ensemble . The broadcast was recorded in the television yard in Berlin. In contrast to the previous show MTV Home, neoParadise has spectators in the studio.

Charisma

The show was initially broadcast on Thursdays at 10:25 p.m., until December 15, 2011, when the broadcast time of the program was moved back to 10:40 p.m. The broadcasting time was increased from 45 to 50 minutes. As of April 19, 2012, the show was given an earlier slot at 10:15 p.m. and the broadcast time was reduced to 45 minutes.

criticism

The ZDF, Joko Winterscheidt and his colleague Klaas Heufer-Umlauf had to take severe criticism, especially on the Internet, in October 2012. The two presenters were at the IFA as part of their television program neoParadise . Heufer-Umlauf set Winterscheidt the task of touching a fair hostess' breasts and buttocks as a reference to a task from the ProSieben show Joko versus Klaas - the duel around the world , whereupon Winterscheidt indicated these touches. The ZDF rejected the accusation of "breast grabbing". “The fair hostess was not touched by Mr. Winterscheidt. The scene was broadcast with their consent, ”the broadcaster explained. The two moderators apologized for this incident after the criticism.

Fixed sections and elements of the program

• Interview at the bar : some guests are interviewed additionally or only at the bar.
• Interview in the broom closet: In some programs, a guest is “by chance” in the closet and is briefly interviewed by Klaas or Joko.
• Cabinet tape : In every shipment there is a new "tape in the cabinet" waiting in a cabinet to be used. The bands play to initiate the "commercial breaks" or to bridge the short break between two guests or an action. The band is then driven back into the closet by Violetta Tarnowska Bronner (Grandma Violetta).

• Eroticism from Germany with Oliver Marc Schulz : Olli Schulz's section , in which he presents disreputable to vulgar poems, rhymes and stories with predominantly sexual content.
• Notes from the basement hole : In this section Serdar Somuncu (a “roommate” who lives in the “basement”) accounts for celebrities and television programs.
• Advertising : These are fictional commercials in which your own products or brands of the show are advertised that you cannot purchase. The commercials are mostly played by Palina.
• Wishes that you never had : Joko and Klaas come to different applicants and fulfill these wishes that they never had.

Audience ratings

With a market share of 0.1 percent (total viewers) and 0.2 percent (viewers between 14 and 49 years of age), the opening broadcast was below the channel average of 0.3 percent in each case.
The third and final season reached an average of 0.3 percent of total viewers and 0.5 percent of viewers between 14 and 49 years of age and was thus also below the broadcasting average, which was now 0.5 percent in both groups. The editions with the highest quotas achieved market shares of up to 0.5 percent or 0.9 percent of the target group.
