Travis Pastrana (born October 8, 1983 in Annapolis , Maryland , United States ) is an American motocross and freestyle motocross pilot and multiple champion and multiple gold medalist at the X Games .

Motocross

He got his first motorcycle , a Yamaha PW 50 , at the age of three. He quickly became famous and discovered his joy in freestyle motocross at a young age . At the 2006 X-Games, he was the first person to land a double backflip on a motorcycle. This stunt presented in Freestyle Motocross is a similar sensation, as was once the case 900 by Tony Hawk was in skateboarding the case.

The Red Bull X-Fighters Final on July 27, 2007 at the Las Ventas bullring in Madrid was the last FMX event in which Travis took part before he retired from motocross. He won there again.

It wasn't until 3 years later that he celebrated his comeback in freestyle motocross with a win at the X-Games XVI. The remarkable thing was that he was already the winner before his third run and still insisted on crowning it for the fans with a double backflip, which he showed for the second time in a competition since 2006.

At the X-Games 2006, Pastrana's other talent also came to light: In the rally category , he took on a leading role alongside Colin McRae by building up enormous pressure on the Scotsman who had made a mistake and McRae thus resulted in the success of Pastrana. Although experts had known for a long time that he also had a future in rallying, before that he was part of the Race-of-Champions team in the USA and participated in various rally competitions, but this was the first popular triumph in this sport. He has been an elite in the United States since he won the national title in 2007. A highlight was the participation in the WRC rally Great Britain that same year.

At the turn of the year 2009/10 he jumped a new world record (82 meters) with a subsequent landing in a Subaru Impreza in Long Beach (USA) - previously the world record for a jump followed by a landing was 52 meters.

Pastrana drove for the Subaru Rally Team USA until the end of 2010, including rallycross races. As before on the motorcycle, he always preferred the number 199.

In 2011, Pastrana was to compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series alongside Michael Waltrip in eleven races of the season for the Toyota team Pastrana-Waltrip Racing , which he had bought into at the end of 2010. However, this was not possible for him due to an injury at the X Games XVII.

In 2012, Pastrana drove as a Dodge works driver an approximately 500 hp Dodge Dart with all-wheel drive in the US Global Rallycross Championship (GRC), in which he also took part in the X Games 18 in Los Angeles.

Again for the Subaru Rally Team USA , Pastrana won the "New England Forest Rally" in 2017. Together with his Polish co-driver Grzegorz Dorman, he crossed the finish line in a Subaru WRX, ahead of second-placed David Higgins , who also competed in a Subaru WRX.

TV

Pastrana has appeared in numerous Crusty films, and a video has even been made specifically about him called the Revelation of 199 . In addition, he and his colleague Gregg Godfrey have his own film series Nitro Circus , in which he and friends from different sports showcase their skills. In early June 2011, Pastrana proposed to his girlfriend, skateboarder Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins , during a show on Nitro Circus, which she accepted.
