Red Bull X-Fighters
Red Bull X-Fighters are freestyle motocross competitions that were originally primarily held in bullring . In addition to the X Games, they are the most prestigious and demanding competitions in Freestyle Motocross (FMX for short).
Red Bull X-Fighters are invitation tournaments in which the best freestylers in the world meet. The competitions get their special flair on the one hand from the relative narrowness of the bullring (and the resulting closeness of the audience to the sporting events) and on the other hand from the adoption of some rituals of a typical corrida : For example, the riders are greeted with drum rolls and trumpet fanfares, and that The audience honors the performance of the riders by waving white towels.
history
The idea for Red Bull X-Fighters came from energy drink producer Red Bull. The first competition took place in 2001 in the bullring in Valencia . In 2002 the competition moved to Madrid - Las Ventas , Spain's largest and most important bullring. With 23,000 spectators, the competition, which has been held in Madrid every year since 2002, is Europe's largest annual FMX event. In 2003, Valencia hosted the Red Bull X-Fighters for the second time alongside Madrid. From 2005 to 2010 the competition was also held annually in Mexico - in the Monumental Plaza de Toros in Mexico City , the largest bullring in the world with 43,000 seats. Mexico City was not an integral part of the World Series in 2011 and thus only one event of the 2011 was held in a bullring. In 2013 the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour returned to Mexico and with Madrid two bullring in the program.
regulate
A Red Bull X-Fighters event usually lasts three days. On the first day there is an introduction for the drivers, on the second day the qualification and on the third day the actual competition. Training takes place on all three days. Each driver has 90 seconds to run. Referees score each run with points in the categories Variety, Challenge and Execution, Style, Use of Course and Show and Spectator Reaction. The eight participants for the competition are determined through the qualification. The ranking is based on the points awarded. The competition consists of quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. In the quarter-finals, the 1st of the qualification competes against the 8th, the 2nd against the 7th, and so on. The points no longer count, only the direct comparison between the drivers. You have to win at least three of the five rating categories in order to advance. The winners of the respective duels go to the semi-finals, where, according to the placements from the qualification, the best against the worst and the second best against the second worst. The winners of the duels qualify for the final, in which the winner of the entire event is determined.
The championship points are distributed as follows after placement:

Red Bull X-Fighters in Germany
In 2008, the X-Fighters Tour made its first stop in Germany. On August 16, the fifth of six competitions of the 2008 tour took place in the Oetelshofen quarry in Wuppertal under the motto “FMX meets Industry”. For the one-day event, a 15,000-seat grandstand was built in the limestone quarry . The victory went to the Swiss Mat Rebeaud , who was able to secure the overall Tour victory ahead of time thanks to his success in Wuppertal.
On July 19, 2014, the X-Fighters-Tour will make its fourth of five stops in the 2014 series in Munich. For the first time in the history of the FMX, the course is being built on the water. Large parts of the route are built on floating bodies, so-called pontoons .
