Eigo Sato

Eigo Satō ( Japanese 佐藤 英 吾 , Satō Eigo ; born October 30, 1978 in Iwaki , Fukushima Prefecture ; † February 28, 2013 ibid.) Was an internationally known Japanese freestyle motocross pilot.

Life

Satō came to motocross at the age of 17 . After emigrating to the United States , he took part in various amateur competitions there. After returning to Japan, he took part in FMX events from 2001 , using a Yamaha YZ250. From 2005 he was a regular participant in the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour . His best placings during this time were two second places that he was able to achieve in 2009. In total, Satō started at the Red Bull X-Fighters 27 times; He reached the quarter-finals 17 times.

On February 27, 2013, Satō had an accident during a training session in Iwaki, Japan . After a failed backflip , he fell heavily to the ground. Satō was admitted to hospital and died there the next day from his injuries. He left behind his wife, Kaori, and 3-year-old son, Eidai.
