Keith Medal
The Keith Medal was an award from the Royal Society of Edinburgh for a scientific article in one of their journals, preferably in the fields of Mathematics (published in the Proceedings, Series A) and Earth Sciences (published in the Transactions), and preferably for a new discovery. It is named after Alexander Keith of Dunnottar (died 1819), the company's first treasurer, and was donated in 1827 with funds from his estate. In 2006 it was awarded for the 80th and last time.
It was awarded at times every two years, most recently at irregular intervals, alternating between mathematics and geosciences.
