Jon Flemming Olsen (born December 14, 1964 in Düsseldorf ) is a German musician , graphic designer , author , actor and television presenter . With the country group Texas Lightning he founded , he represented Germany at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest with the song No No Never . The German contribution took 15th place in the competition, achieved gold and platinum status in Germany with over 450,000 units sold and remained in the German Media Control single charts for a total of 38 weeks. The Texas Lightning album Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch , which was released in 2005, also almost reached platinum with almost 200,000 units sold. Olsen played guitar and sang until he left in 2009 .

Career

His musical training began in 1969 with early musical education at the music school in Hamburg . Flute and violin lessons followed. He learned his main instrument, the guitar , between 1977 and 1982. In 1986, Olsen took singing lessons . This was followed by the Popkurs , a contact course of popular music in Hamburg in 1987.

After various school and youth bands, Olsen founded the band Welcome Home as a singer and songwriter in 1989 (until 1993), with Christian Neander on guitar and Leo Schmidthals (both later with Selig ) on bass. In Olli Dittrich's band project Tim , Olsen played acoustic guitar in 1989. Also in 1989 he joined Die Sirenen (until 1994), an a cappella octet that appeared as the house band of the midnight show in the Schmidt Theater , which was broadcast on NDR television . And at Die Bietels (1992–1996) with Olli Dittrich (children's drums, vocals) and Stephan Zacharias (bass, vocals) he was an electric guitarist and singer.

From 1993 onwards, as a self-taught graphic designer , Olsen mainly designed CD covers for Udo Lindenberg , Phillip Boa , Selig, Echt , and the Palast Orchester with his singers Max Raabe , Stefan Gwildis and Annett Louisan , among others . Olsen has won gold and platinum awards for some of this cover design work.

In 2000, Olsen played, among other small roles, for the first time Ingo , the takeaway owner, as he wears a wig. Olli Dittrich's solo TV format Olli, animals, sensations contained the improvised Dittsche - Parts already in two minute short form. After a second season in 2001, the program was canceled.

Since February 2004, Dittsche - the really real life has been broadcast as a 30-minute, independent format by WDR . The snack comedy was awarded the Gold Grimme Prize and the German Television Prize.

In 2009, Olsen traveled through Germany for a month to “research” the reality of the German snack bar in 16 snack bars in 16 federal states. His book Der Fritten-Humboldt was published on March 15, 2010 : My journey to the heart of the snack bar . In November 2011 he formed a new band called the Jon Flemming Olsen Acoustic Trio . Olsen sang and played western guitar and mandolin there. In March 2012, his book Der Fritten-Humboldt: My journey into the heart of the snack bar was published as a paperback under the new title In 16 days for sausages . In spring 2012, Olsen moderated a total of 40 episodes of the quiz program Kneipenquiz , which the television station ZDFneo broadcast on the previous evening on the weekdays.

In the summer of 2012, Olsen began working on his first solo album, which was to contain exclusively German-language songs. The album, repeatedly titled, was released in January 2014 on the Hamburg label 105music . In May 2017, Olsen released his second solo album, titled Von all alone , on the Hamburg label Superlaut . In contrast to his predecessor, Olsen wrote all the songs and lyrics for this album himself, the production was mainly financed by crowdfunding in advance.

2017 was Olsen as a guest on the album Desert songs the band The Twang at a country music version of Eye Bling it. The song was also released as a single.
