Budzillus ( spelling : BudZillus ) is a band from Berlin . It was founded in 2005. In their music there are influences from swing , punk , jazz , polka , surf , reggae and oriental music .

history

Budzillus was initially founded to play at a friend's wedding and then performed on the street and smaller concerts, initially with cajón and banjo . At the beginning of 2008 there were several changes in the line-up, the band has since played in a classic rock band formation (vocals, guitar, bass, drums) and is expanded to include keyboards and saxophone. Only Robert Kondorosi and Kristian Zepplin remain from the founding members. The band has a solid core, but also often plays with various guest musicians.

Budzillus write their lyrics mainly in German and English, but also sing in Hungarian.

An important feature besides the music is the “ do it yourself ” principle: since its inception, the band has played on sometimes quite unusual and self-made instruments such as the tenor guitar or the bass banjo , runs its own business, creates its own artwork and has it founded his own record label.

Since 2008 the band has played up to 100 concerts a year and visited more than a dozen countries, including: the USA , Russia , Turkey , Hungary , Italy , Belgium , the Netherlands , France , Poland and Denmark . The band also played at major festivals such as the Lowlands or Fusion Festival .

In 2007 Budzillus recorded their first EP in the Soundlounge studios in Schwerin , followed by the second EP Devils Polka in summer 2008 and the first (self-titled) album was released in 2009. After the band toured extensively in 2010 and 2011, the EP Der Untergang was released with remixes a . a. by AKA AKA and Oliver Koletzki . In March 2012, the second album followed on mercy . In the same year, the band played in the episode Die Gurkenkönigin of the series Polizeiruf 110 itself and also contributed large parts of the soundtrack. The title music of the ARD early evening series Heiter bis tödlich: Hauptstadtrevier also comes from her. After a successful start-up campaign via Startnext , the band released their third album Besser wirds nicht on Munka Munka Records in 2015 , which is distributed via Rough Trade .
