AKA AKA is a German producer , DJ and remixer duo in the field of electronic dance music .
General
The AKA AKA duo was founded in 2009 by Johannes Bergheim from Saarland and Holger Kampling from Emden . The track "Woody Woodpecker" on her first single release on Oliver Koletzki's label Stil vor Talent reached number 1 on the Beatport sales charts in the minimal genre and was named the third best track at the Beatport Music Awards in May 2010.
In October 2009 AKA AKA founded their own label Burlesque Musique, on which they released their debut album "Varieté" in May 2011 with the composer and trumpeter Thalstroem . This rose to number 1 on Amazon.de's sale charts in the techno genre and held that position for weeks. It was also voted one of the ten best albums of 2011 by readers of Groove magazine and Partysan magazine. Also the album "Varieté Remixed", which followed in 2012, featured over 30 reinterpretations of original pieces by u. a. Technasia, Moonbootica and Marek Hemmann, reached position 1 on Amazon.de's sale charts in the Techno genre.
In addition to their studio productions, AKA AKA are best known for their DJ and live appearances with their partner Thalstroem. In 2012 they played at festivals such as Timewarp , Sea of Love , SonneMondSterne , Mayday and Nature One . The readers of the Partysan magazine honored their appearances by naming AKA AKA & Thalstroem "Best Live Act 2011", the second best "Starter 2011" and "Newcomer 2011". In the poll by Faze Magazin in 2012, 2014 and 2015 they also achieved first place in the "Best Live Act" ranking.
On October 30th, 2015 her album "Connected" was released, which was released on her own imprint Burlesque Musique.
In 2017 Hannes and Holger decided to put their label Burlesque Musique on hold for the time being and founded their new label Sacrebleu. The first publications were from D! E ZWE! , Ben Böhmer , Sasch BBC and AKA AKA themselves. What is special is that AKA AKA have contributed a remix to every release so far.
In November 2018 they talk to host Jürgen Laarmann in his podcast series 1000 Tage Techno u. a. about the change in the music industry and new opportunities for artists, the difficulties with social media and festivals.
