Partysan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Partysan is Germany's first Techno - and House - Fanzine (music magazine) in DIN A6 format that event announcements (copies of flyers ) and associated club - and event reviews distributed free of charge. In addition, the makers also organize their own events. Partysan was first published in Munich in May 1994 and has a firm place in the German party scene for electronic dance music to the present day.

history

The founders Bob Shahrestani, Thomas Kleutgen, Kerstin Greiner and Daniel Dietzmann were the first to collect the flood of flyers in order to publish them in an A6 magazine. From 1993/94 own events were organized and in 1995 the first offshoot of the Partysanen was founded. At times up to 14 regional editions were produced. The original offices were on the Domagkstrasse barracks site in Munich , now in Berlin . 12 regional editions are currently being published and distributed to clubs, bars, trendy hangouts and trendy shops.

Events

The partysans have also been acting as travel and event organizers since the 90s, including a. Rave & Cruise, Thaibreak, Sunflower Festival, Rave On Snow , Partysan Yachting and the Fight the Power demonstration .

For one- or two-week trips such as Rave & Cruise , for example, cruise ships were chartered in the Mediterranean, equipped with DJ desks, sound and lighting systems on the open-air deck, internationally known (or even unknown) DJs booked and parties with around 300 guests each Celebrated on the high seas or in the clubs of the ports called. But also by plane we first went to Kenya, from there on to the ship and then for a week in a fully booked hotel complex on the beach.

The youngest offspring in the Partysan travel dynasty is yachting, which offers sea voyages on the “blue route” in Turkey, except that here ships with max. 8 places can be chartered and thus, depending on the bookings, a small armada sails across the sea.

The rave & snow events ran in exactly the opposite season: In the snow-sure Saalbach-Hinterglemm, DJ sets were initiated on the slopes during the day, the local clubs played at night and the entire village was celebrated with up to 10,000 guests.

As the name suggests, the travel format Thaibreak takes place annually for around two to four weeks in Thailand; on an island in the Gulf of Thailand (until 2011 on Koh Phangan, the sister island of Ko Samui; in 2012 for the first time on Koh Mak, a smaller island near Koh Chang). The guests of the event live directly on the beach and enjoy the climate, the food, the beach life and the daily new DJ sets in different locations.

distribution

With the exception of the NRW edition, the Partysan is not IVW- approved. According to the company's own media data, the total number was around 330,000 copies in 2006 (Germany: 165,000). There are regional offices in Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Frankfurt and internationally in Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Greece, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Thailand and Australia. Since June 2008 Partysan has also been published in Ibiza.

The content of the magazines is also distributed online free of charge and enhanced with additional web content. The core of the online presence is the community, which, according to the publisher, has around 38,000 registered users. The network concept is particularly emphasized here. Due to the regional peculiarities of the respective club scene and the need for comprehensive financing through advertisements from local advertisers in the style of a profit center , the regional editions work cooperatively, but above all independently.

In 2014 all Partysan regional offices were closed. Berlin is an exception. A monthly Partysan print edition still appears here, which is published by the Partysan Berlin-Brandenburg Verlag UG under the direction of the cultural media manager Daniel Goslar. Since August 2014 there is a new blog about the world of electronic music with a focus on Berlin.
