Paul von Joukowsky
Paul von Joukowsky ( Russian Павел Васильевич Жуковский / Pawel Wassiljewitsch Schukowski ; born January 13, 1845 in Sachsenhausen , † August 26, 1912 in Weimar ) was a Russian-German set designer and writer .
Life
Paul Joukowsky was the son of the Russian poet Wassili Andrejewitsch Schukowski . In 1863/64 he undertook a grand tour to Rome , Naples and Bonn with Hermann Ohl as court master .
It was introduced to Richard and Cosima Wagner in the Villa d'Angri near Naples on January 18, 1880.
He later accompanied her on her visits to Ravello and Siena , designed the costumes and four of the five sets for the world premiere of Wagner's opera Parsifal , for which he was inspired by traveling with the Wagner couple.
