history
The program has existed since October 1, 1987 and began under the title Guten Morgen with Sat.1 . From 1993 to 1999 the program was called Germany Today Tomorrow and since 1999 the program has been called SAT.1 Breakfast TV .
The first editions (“Guten Morgen mit SAT 1”) included editorial parts as well as expert discussions on consumer issues, a daily horoscope and music videos. Each morning a letter was initially identified that only authorized viewers whose family name began with this letter to qualify for the “Golden Shot” competition played by telephone. Another long-term element of the several-hour broadcast was the video game Superball , another reaction game with audience participation by telephone. This was replaced in spring 2006 by the game Super-Zoom , since autumn 2009 the game "2 questions, 3 answers" has been available. Since December 2009 there is a new competition called “Jackpot 5”. The spot landing game , in which the players have to hit a specified location on a map of Germany, was introduced temporarily . In addition, in previous programs, talented singers were able to prove their skills at Morningstar . The show focuses on entertainment and according to a study published in 2000, the share of current information was 28.3 percent. Since March 25, 2008 breakfast television has been presented from the largest Sat.1 studio

Saturday edition
In 2007, the SAT.1 breakfast television was also broadcast on Saturday between May 5th and July 21st. The show ran between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Marlene Lufen and Torgen Schneider moderated the magazine for the first two weeks. In the following weeks, Marlene Lufen moderated with Jan Hahn . Karen Heinrichs took over the vacation replacement for the two main presenters. "The best" from the last week of broadcast was shown. Sat.1 always tried to get a studio tape for the Saturday edition.
From July 5, 2008 to September 26, 2009, the SAT.1 breakfast television was broadcast on Saturday between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. The moderation team was initially formed by Jan Hahn and Aline von Drateln , from May 9, 2009, Karen Heinrichs instead moderated at Jan Hahn's side. Marlene Lufen represented the main moderators. The Saturday edition differed significantly from the weekly edition. It was not broadcast live, there were no studio guests and there was no news either. There was a studio band for this, which has several short appearances, and from March 2009 also the "Morning Star" again. In autumn 2009, the show was stopped again due to poor ratings.
