Ralf Hohlfeld

Ralf Hohlfeld (born March 7, 1966 in Braunschweig ) is a German communication scientist . Since 2008 he has been teaching at the University of Passau .

Life

Hohlfeld studied journalism and communication science, German studies, political science and economic policy at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and received his doctorate in 1995 with a thesis on television program analysis. phil. He then became an employee in the media research / corporate planning department at Südwestfunk in Baden-Baden. From 1996 to the end of 2007, Hohlfeld worked at the Chair of Journalism I at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt: initially as a research assistant and since his habilitation in 2002 (subject: "Journalism and Media Research") as a senior research assistant. During this time he was among other things editor-in-chief of the Eichstätter magazine "eineins". Hohlfeld also sat in on the "Braunschweiger Zeitung", SAT.1 and Norddeutscher Rundfunk and worked as a freelancer for NDR and as a film critic for radio stations in North Rhine-Westphalia. After teaching at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt from 1996 , he moved to the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 2007 , where he was professor for online communication from the winter semester 2007 to August 2008. Since September 1, 2008, he has held the Chair of Communication Science at the University of Passau .

His teaching and research areas are political communication, basics of communication science, theories of journalism and communication studies, magazine production, media studies broadcasting, sports journalism, audience research, empirical methods of communication research, quality research, new journalism , media ethics, journalism and research transfer research, media change.

Hohlfeld is married and has three children.
