Susanne Holst (born September 19, 1961 in Hamburg ) is a German doctor , medical journalist , author and television presenter .

Life

Susanne Holst studied human medicine at the University of Hamburg . She obtained her license to practice medicine in 1988 and received her doctorate in 1996 . She completed her first assistant position in a general practice in Hamburg . Through her boyfriend at the time, she came to Sat.1 while she was still a student , where she started as a CvD assistant in the newsroom until she became the presenter of the program Guten Morgen with Sat.1 and in 1991 received the Golden Camera of the magazine Hörzu .

Further engagements followed. On Sat.1 the health magazine Stay healthy and on ZDF the program “Menschen” . In 1995, the Hamburg native designed the wellness magazine Gut drauf and presented it daily in the Sat.1 program. In addition to the medical program alpha-med on Bayerischer Rundfunk and a health section on tm3 , from 1996 to 2004 she presented the weekly series DAS! On Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) . is good (380 episodes).

From 1999 onwards, Susanne Holst also moderated - alternating with colleagues - the medical program “ Visite ” and the daily afternoon magazine N3 from 4 . Since May 7, 2001 she has been moderating the afternoon editions of the Tagesschau on ARD, alternating with Claus-Erich Boetzkes . From 2004 to 2012 she represented Caren Miosga and Tom Buhrow regularly - even over long distances - on the topics of the day , including during Caren Miosga's pregnancy in 2010. From 2004 to 2005, she also moderated the weekly health program Visite personally on NDR. From 2011 to 2013 Susanne Holst presented the monthly “ARD health guide” and was - alongside Ulrike Folkerts and Dieter Moor  - the face of the 2011 ARD theme week “The mobile person”. Since May 2014 the medical journalist has been moderating the weekly mini documentary " Knowledge before eight - human " on ARD.

She is the author of various books on diabetes , pain therapy , sleep and rheumatism . Holst has been married to Halko Weiss, a psychotherapist and specialist for Hakomi , since 1992 . The couple, who have been separated for several years, have twins, a boy and a girl.

Susanne Holst volunteers as an ambassador for the Child Health Foundation .
