Child Health Foundation
The Children's Health Foundation is a legal foundation under civil law . The Children's Health Foundation is committed to helping children and young people grow up healthily. It informs the public about health issues and develops preventive measures in cooperation, e.g. B. for day care centers, kindergartens and schools. It promotes the professional exchange between doctors and scientists and provides expertise in the field of pediatric prevention.

The foundation was established in 1997 by Berthold Koletzko, a specialist in pediatric and adolescent medicine who worked at the Dr. founded by Hauner's Children's Hospital of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Koletzko has been the foundation's first honorary chairman since the beginning .
The deputy chairman of the board is Dieter Heidemann, board member of O&R Oppenhoff & Rädler AG, auditing and tax consulting company in Munich.
The chairman of the board of trustees , which oversees the foundation, is Karl JT Wach (Wach + Meckes LLP, Munich).

The foundation is an alliance partner of the Alliance for Prevention established by the Bavarian State Ministry for Health and Care, as well as a project partner of the Federal Government's National Action Plan IN FORM.

Awards
The programs “TigerKids- Kindergarten aktiv”, “Die RAKUNS - The healthy classroom” and the APP “Child and Eating - an APP on the topics of nutrition, exercise and healthy growing up” were developed by IN FORM - Germany's initiative for healthy eating and more exercise awarded the INFORM logo. In its White Paper on Nutrition 2007, the European Commission named the “TigerKids” program as one of two European model projects for obesity prevention. The “TigerKids” program received the seal of approval from the National Diabetes Mellitus Action Forum and received the Fit4Future Award 2014 from the Cleven Foundation. In 2008 the Children's Health Foundation received the PharmaBarometer Prize for outstanding charitable commitment in the health sector.
The Foundation received the Comprix Gold Award for innovative health and pharmaceutical communication twice, in 2005 for the communication project “The Scream” on child neglect and again in 2009 for the communication project “Your child smokes too” for the prevention of smoking during pregnancy .
Goals and Activities
In accordance with its statutes, the foundation promotes paediatrics and in particular pediatric prevention and pediatric nutritional medicine in research, science and teaching. It promotes national and international cooperation and the exchange of doctors, scientists and other people in the field of child and youth prevention and informs the public about questions in these subject areas.

The aim of the foundation is to promote the implementation of medically and scientifically proven knowledge in practical application and to scientifically evaluate and develop preventive measures on this basis.

Meinhard von Pfaundler Prize
The Meinhard von Pfaundler Prize is awarded by the foundation for outstanding achievements in the field of pediatric prevention.
Prize winners include:
- Ulrich Heininger, University Children's Hospital in Basel (2015) in recognition of his outstanding commitment to improving the prevention of infectious diseases in children and adolescents
- Martina Pötschke-Langer, German Cancer Research Center Heidelberg (2011) in recognition of outstanding achievements in the prevention of tobacco exposure in children and adolescents
- Andrew Endre Czeizel, University of Budapest (2010) for his contribution to the prevention of congenital malformations through improved vitamin supply in pregnant women
- Bernhard Liebl, Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (2008), due to his great merits in establishing extended newborn screening for the early detection of congenital diseases
