The University of Maribor (also University of Marburg an der Drau , Slovenian : Univerza v Mariboru ) in the university town of Maribor is the second oldest and, in terms of student numbers, the second largest university in Slovenia .

history

The University of Maribor has existed since 1975 when the Slovenian Theological College, founded in the 19th century under Bishop Anton Martin Slomšek , was merged with six other training and research institutions.

Research and Teaching

Today the university consists of 15 faculties with a total of around 20,000 students. Teaching and research takes place in the subjects of agricultural sciences , chemistry , electrical engineering , computer science , nursing , mechanical engineering , law and economics . On IER - Institute for Entrepreneurship Research activities are for business start investigated in Slovenia.
