Davorin Kračun (born October 31, 1950 in Maribor , Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian economist and politician.
Life
Davorin Kračun studied economics, first at the University of Maribor , then at the University of Zagreb , where he received his doctorate in 1981 . He teaches economics at the University of Maribor, initially as a lecturer from 1982, from 1987 as associate professor and since 1995 as full professor for economics. He resumed this activity after the interruption due to his work as ambassador in 2004. In addition, he has a teaching position for economic diplomacy at the University of Ljubljana .
He belongs to the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia and was a member of the Slovenian government in the 1990s: 1992–1993 as planning minister ( 2nd government of the Republic of Slovenia ), 1993–1995 as minister for economic relations and development and 1996–1997 as foreign minister ( 3rd government ). From 2000 to 2004 he was the Slovenian Ambassador to the United States (with responsibility also for Mexico ).
Davorin Kračun has been President of the Slovenian Fiscal Council since 2017 .
