The Liberal Democracy of Slovenia (LDS) ( Slov. Liberalna demokracija Slovenije ) is a political party in Slovenia . She was a member of the Liberal International until 2014 . Anton Anderlič has been the chairman since May 16, 2013 .

The party provided the prime minister from 1992 to 2004, with a brief interruption. It followed a moderate centrist or left-centrist course.

history

The LDS emerged in 1990 from the Socialist Youth Association (ZSMS).

In 1990 Slavoj Žižek was the presidential candidate of the LDS. Its long-time chairman from 1992 to 2002, Janez Drnovšek , became President of Slovenia in 2002 .

In the parliamentary elections in 2004, she suffered considerable losses under the leadership of Anton Rop , the Slovenian Prime Minister at the time , and went into opposition with 23 seats (22.8%) in the Slovenian State Assembly ( Državni zbor ). On October 15, 2005, Jelko Kacin became party chairman, but he was unable to avert the party's crisis. Some important members, including six MPs, left the LDS and founded a new party Zares (meaning: "really, seriously").

In the parliamentary elections on December 4, 2011 , the party only won 1.48% of the vote and thus missed the 4% hurdle for entry into the state assembly.
