from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Party of the Carinthian Slovenes , also Carinthian Slovene Party ( Koroška slovenska stranka ), was a party of the Carinthian Slovenes in the Austrian state of Carinthia . The party was founded in 1921 as an electoral party for the Politično in gospodarsko društvo za Slovence na Koroškem ("Political and Economic Association for the Slovenes in Carinthia") and regularly provided two members of the Carinthian state parliament in the First Republic .

history

After the referendum in Carinthia in 1920 in favor of South Carinthia remaining with Carinthia, the Slovenian organizations in Carinthia were forced to separate from their headquarters in Ljubljana. This also affected the Katoliško politično in gospodarsko društvo za Slovence na Koroškem ("Catholic political and economic association for the Slovenes in Carinthia"), which appeared from 1921 as Politično in gospodarsko društvo za Slovence na Koroškem . The association subsequently founded the campaigning party Koroška slovenska stranka , which was voted in the state elections in 1921 , 1923 , 1927 and 1930as well as in the National Council elections in 1923 and 1927 . The party of the Carinthian Slovenes received between around 9,000 and 10,000 votes in the state elections and 9,868 and 9,334 votes in the national elections. While the party thus failed in the National Council elections, it always won two seats in the state elections in Carinthia.
