Pozitivna Slovenija (short PS , German  Positives Slovenia ) is a political party in Slovenia that is positioned as left-liberal .

history

The party was founded in October 2011 at the instigation of the Mayor of Ljubljana , Zoran Janković, under the name Lista Zorana Jankovića - Pozitivna Slovenija (German: List Zoran Janković - Positive Slovenia , LZJ-PS for short ).

In the 2011 general election she went to for the first time and was with 28.53% immediately strongest party. President Danilo Türk then commissioned party chairman Zoran Janković to form a government. After negotiations with the Social Democrats (SD), the Citizens 'List (DL) and the Pensioners' Party (DeSUS), an agreement in principle on a four-party coalition was reached. But on January 9, 2012, two days before the decisive vote in parliament, the citizens' list surprisingly withdrew their offer. The vote ultimately failed with only 42 to 90 votes and Zoran Janković had failed as head-designate. The only thing left for the party to do was go into opposition.

At the second party congress on January 21, 2012, the name was changed to Pozitivna Slovenija .

As a result of allegations of corruption, Zoran Janković resigned from the office of party chairman in January 2013 and made this available until the party leadership was elected at the end of the year. The state anti-corruption agency had determined that 2.4 million euros from Janković's assets came from dubious sources. Due to the resignation, Alenka Bratušek took over the party chairmanship provisionally.

On February 27, 2013, the Slovenian Parliament elected Bratušek as the new Prime Minister after it had expressed its distrust of Janez Janša . For the vote of no confidence , the PS had allied itself with SD, DL and DeSUS, but it was initially unclear whether all four parties would also form a new governing coalition.

On January 30, 2014 PS applied for membership in the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), but withdrew the application on April 30, 2014 after Zoran Janković with 422 of 763 votes at a party conference on April 26, 2014 had been re-elected party chairman. After this party conference decision, the PS parliamentary group split into two groups in the Slovenian parliament: 13 members of parliament left the parliamentary group, eleven of whom formed a new parliamentary group around Alenka Bratušek and two became non-attached, while 13 members remained in the PS parliamentary group. On May 31, Bratušek's group founded its own party, the Alenka Bratušek alliance .

In the 2014 European elections , PS only won 6.61% of the vote and thus did not win a mandate in the European Parliament . In the Slovenian parliamentary elections on July 13, 2014, the party finally fell to 2.96% of the vote and thus missed re-entry into the Slovenian parliament, during which the alliance Alenka Bratušek narrowly succeeded.
