Samuel Žbogar

Samuel Žbogar (born March 5, 1962 in Postojna ) is a Slovenian politician. He belongs to the Socialni Demokrati party and was foreign minister from 2008 to 2012.

After studying political science , he worked for the Yugoslav Foreign Ministry from 1990 to 1991 . He then worked as a Slovenian diplomat in the People's Republic of China and at the United Nations in New York . From 2001 to 2004 he was Deputy Foreign Minister of Slovenia, then Slovenian Ambassador to the United States until 2008 . From November 21, 2008 to February 2012, he was Slovenia's Foreign Minister. Since February 2012 he has been the special representative of the European Union and head of the EU office in Kosovo .
