TecTime TV (formerly: Dr. Dish Television, from English dish : Schüssel ) was a German-speaking television station for mass media , communication technologies, hi-fi, computers, the Internet and digital lifestyle. TecTime TV's broadcasts also covered the reception of digital services via satellite , internet , cable television and other sources. The broadcaster tried to give an overview of the existing possibilities and to offer technical assistance.

Founder and editor-in-chief is Christian Mass-Protzen, who operates under his birth name Christian Mass ("Dr. Dish"). "DrDish" is a registered word mark . Insat-Media GbR ( DrDish Television GmbH ) has been based in Ottobrunn near Munich since 2013.

On January 2, 2017, the broadcaster filed for bankruptcy; broadcasting ceased on January 6, 2017. A (initially) printed magazine for subscribers is published every month to accompany the broadcast.

history

From 1994 DrDish TV broadcast live for three hours once a month, produced by hobbyists for hobbyists. Initially, a conference room at Deutsche Telekom AG's Usingen earth station near the transmitter in the neighboring building served as the studio . The broadcast took place via the satellite Kopernikus 2, which has since been switched off, at 28.5 ° East and then via other satellites. The team at that time consisted of Mike Bauerfeind, Matthias Kronbach, Ay Renneberg and Christian Mass (Dr. Dish). Petra Hüther, then editor-in-chief of Tele-Satellite magazine , David de Jong with Dutch Media News and John Locker with his Space News were connected.

For reasons of cost, the technology used consisted mainly of self-made components as well as borrowed equipment, and technical problems were part of everyday broadcasting. The programs included tips on how to receive SCPC signals and messages about station starts and settings that were read out in person, as sources of information such as the Internet were not yet widespread. Even then, devices for satellite reception were tested and audience questions were answered live on the phone.

The monthly program was broadcast on various satellites until 2006 - with an interruption of several years in between. In April 2006, the monthly live broadcast of the television channel DrDish Television emerged. From now on, broadcasts took place five hours a day via the Eutelsat HotBird satellite system in German and English. This made the station accessible to a wider television audience in Europe. In addition to Christian Mass, Kinga Szentesi, Sebastian Schuster and Christian Graf also performed the programs. In 2007 DrDish Television began broadcasting via ASTRA and could thus be received in all German satellite households.

Until April 8, 2010, the broadcast was in German from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April 9, 2010, DrDish TV broadcast in full 24-hour operation. The programs and documentaries produced in-house dealt with satellite astronomy and promotional product information on satellite receivers , supplemented by formats produced by third parties that were repeated several times a day.

On September 16, 2013, the channel was renamed from DrDish TV to TecTime TV . The program feed from TecTime TV to the ASTRA 19.2 ° East satellite position was carried out by the Astra Platform Services Teleport in Unterföhring near Munich until February 22, 2016 . After that, for cost reasons, only one HbbTV link was sent; shortly afterwards the broadcast slot was stopped and the station switched to the multi-library . From August 2016, Media Broadcast broadcast the TecTime signal again via the satellite position Astra 19.2 ° East. The streams intended for HbbTV were retained, as one wanted to expand the range; so the transmitter was also fed into some small cable networks.

The broadcaster filed for bankruptcy on January 2, 2017, and ceased broadcasting on January 6, 2017.
