Daniel Engelbarts (born September 4, 1973 in Emmerich am Rhein ) is an entrepreneur of Dutch origin. As a “savings detective”, he has been a permanent member of the Sat.1 breakfast television staff since 2016 .

Life

Engelbarts was born in Emmerich am Rhein , but is Dutch by nationality, as his parents are citizens of this country. He completed his Abitur at the Technical High School in Kaiserslautern . Then studied Engelbart's economic computer science at the private University of Applied Sciences Wedel . He wrote his diploma thesis at Axel Springer Verlag in Hamburg.

Today Daniel Engelbarts lives with his family in Berlin . Engelbarts has been part of the Leaders for Climate Action initiative since September 2019 .

Career

After internships at media and online companies such as AOL Bertelsmann and AME Aigner Media & Entertainment, he worked from 2000 for Axel Springer Verlag, most recently as head of operations and product management at BILD.de . From 2008 to 2014 he was partner and member of the management of Econa AG and founded the bargain and coupon platform Sparwelt.de within Econa, together with Christian Lang. The company was sold to RTL in 2014 for 27.5 million euros, and Engelbarts and Lang stayed with the company for two more years to organize the transition.

Engelbarts left the company in 2016 and, together with Lang, founded the start-up remind.me ( remind me GmbH ) at the beginning of 2017 , which reminds users of expiring contracts and offers them better deals and at the same time takes on switching between electricity and gas contracts. The first, fully self-financed version of the website went live in October 2017.

Role as "savings detective"

Since 2016 Engelbarts has also appeared as a "Spar-Detective" and permanent member of the staff on Sat.1 breakfast television and occasionally on the Sat.1 program Akten and other television formats.

Even before his television career, he used this pseudonym in publications such as B. Focus Online or Bild.de in appearance.
