Left Boy (born December 17, 1988 in Vienna ; actually Ferdinand Sarnitz ) is an Austrian rapper , singer and music producer . He is the son of Sabina Sarnitz and André Heller .

Career

As a teenager he tried his hand at being a DJ and beatboxer and was one of the organizers of the first beatboxing world championship. At 16 he wrote his first song.

At the age of 18, Sarnitz went to New York ( NoHo , district of Manhattan ) to complete a one-year degree in audio engineering at the Institute of Audio Research and to establish contacts with the rap scene. He later moved to Brooklyn . At the age of 22 he became a father, which he also addressed in some songs on his album Permanent Midnight (2014).

In December 2010 Left Boy released his first mixtape The Second Coming for free download. In addition, from mid-2011 he produced a series of music videos for the titles. The English-language songs are often based on samples , the usability of which is not legally clarified. An official sound carrier is therefore not offered. Without a record deal, he appeared on major festival stages from 2012, including the FM4 Frequency Festival , Sea of ​​Love and the HipHop Open . The dance group Urban Movements accompanies him live .

Left Boy released his first single Black Dress on January 25, 2013 on Warner Music ; On August 29, 2013 Left Boy released his second single Get It Right , both of which can be heard on the album Permanent Midnight . The album was released on February 14, 2014 in Austria and Germany.

In 2015 Left Boy was involved in the opening song for the Eurovision Song Contest , Building Bridges .

Left Boy released the free EP Back on Top Soon on February 14, 2016 . He previously released the song Sweet Emotions , a sample of the song of the same name by the British band The Kooks .

On April 7th, 2017 the video for his song The Return Of ... was released, with which he announced the release of a new album. The album Ferdinand was released on April 6, 2018.

June 8th. In 2018 Left Boy released the single Please Brich Mein Herz nicht Baby, the text of which, in contrast to his previous publications, is written in German.

On November 29th, 2019 he released the single "Dynamite" under the new pseudonym "Ferdinand". He pointed to his new alter ego with the song "New Page Who Dis?" down.
