Captain Cappa or Capa is a German electronic band from Bad Frankenhausen (Thuringia). The band has been under contract with Audiolith since 2017 , previously they released on Cobretti Records.

history

In November 2007 the band Hannes Naumann and Maik Biermann released the EP These Fights Are Never Over under the name Captain Capa , which appeared again a few months later, expanded with remixes , as a special edition . The single Adolescence , released in March 2008, also comes from this EP .

The band's first album , Tonight Is The Constant , was produced by the Hamburg electro musician Norman Kolodziej ( Der Tante Renate , Bratze ) and was released on May 8, 2009 by Cobretti. Kolodziej would continue to work closely with the band as a producer.

The album was received favorably by the critics. For example, Mathias Möller wrote for the online magazine Laut.de that Tonight Is the Constant is a “ really passable record ” with “the sound and direction are right ”. On the other hand, he was critical of the frequent references to other titles and artists, and he would like the successor to be “a little more independent ”. In the music magazine Intro , Benjamin Walter found that the music had little in common with techno , but could rather be classified as “high-speed pop”, which, however, aimed directly at the dance floor and far beyond. He also particularly emphasized the melodies and refrains of the titles, as well as the work of producer Kolodziej.

On the album Ausflug mit Freunde by the band Egotronic , which was released in April, there is a coproduction with Captain Capa entitled You . In his review for Laut.de , Mathias Möller described this song as " probably the best relationship number Egotronics ". Singer Hannes Naumann can also be heard as a guest voice in songs by the bands Juri Gagarin and Kasaka.

In the summer of 2010, Captain Capa switched to the Hamburg label Audiolith . The first release is a split EP with a supershirt entitled Dead Animals and was released on October 8, 2010. At the same time, both bands are going on a month-long tour of Germany.

On May 27, 2011 Captain Capa's second studio album Saved My Life was released , this was produced by Norman Kolodziej like Tonight Is the Constant and was released on Audiolith like the Dead Animals EP.

In September 2011 Captain Capa won the New Music Award , a music prize awarded by young ARD radio programs.

In the summer of 2012, Captain Capa joined the Vans Warped Tour through the USA . In 2013 the long player Foxes was released . Furthermore, Captain Capa performed at the Sziget Festival and took part again in the Vans Warped Tour in 2014 .

In January 2015, the band Maik Biermann announced the departure. In the new appointment with Marco Pilzecker ( Supershirt ) on guitar and Mario Saegling to the synthesizers Captain Capa remained as a trio made.

In 2017 the band recorded their first studio album This Is Forever with a new line-up with Norman Kolodziej at the Château Brachial in Leipzig .
