Supershirt was a German electronic band from the Rostock area , but the band members now live in Berlin . The band was under contract with the Audiolith label .
Band history
Foundation and first experiences
The founding members Henry Witt and Hendrik Menzl met around 2000 at their high school and later decided to form a hip-hop formation. Initially under the name Halbe Hemden , the duo released an EP with their own songs in 2004. After they had given their own songs a more electro- sounding sound through remixes and also didn't feel right at home in the hip-hop scene, the group decided to rename it to Supershirt and concentrated more on electronic music in the future.
First album
The group's first album, Du Bist Super , was created in 2006 and 2007 and was released on October 19, 2007 on the Audiolith label. The album contains thirteen tracks and has a playing time of 46:21 minutes. Stylistically, the music moves in the field of electro , but also has many elements from pop and hip-hop . The accentuation varies from song to song. The single, Strawberry High , therefore has more pop elements than its counterpart Teitmaschine , which is even more influenced by the duo's hip-hop origins.
After the release, Supershirt toured extensively through Germany , Austria and Switzerland .
Second album
In 2009, Supershirt began work on the second album, 8,000 marks . On September 18, the advance single 8000 Marks was released, whereupon the album followed on October 23, 2009, like its predecessor on Audiolith. With eleven titles and a playing time of 39:54 min. it's a little shorter than the debut.
The style is based on that of Du Bist Super , but is more oriented towards electro and now also electro punk than before, which could be attributed to the influence of artists like Egotronic, who are also under contract with Audiolith. The lyrics have become accordingly more political and critical. With German Psycho behavior is criticized many German by contradictions are designed specifically, the contradictory or hypocritical behavior should make it clear:

In Mother's Problems curiosity and sensationalism are criticized, in Justus a whole range of problems in German society and politics are thematized in a rather ironic way.
After the album, the download EP Night Jacket was released on December 25th , which, in addition to the eponymous title, also contains remixes of Night Jacket and 8000 Marks , the title Haue and the only available title Schutt .
In spring 2010 Supershirt went on tour again. A new band member was also won. Marco Pilzecker initially played the guitar unofficially, but was then announced on the band's blog as an official new member.
Split EP with Captain Capa
In October 2010, Supershirt and Captain Capa released the split EP Dead Animals , which, like its predecessors, was released on Audiolith. At the same time, both bands went on a month-long tour of Germany.
Third album
On September 30, 2011, the third album Artwork was released .
On March 10, 2015, the band announced their breakup via Audiolith Records. At the end of the year some farewell concerts were held.
