Trackshittaz was an Austrian Hip-Hop - Duo from the Mühlviertel . With the song Oida taunz! They were the first Austrian hip-hop group to achieve a number one hit. On July 24, 2015, they announced their split.

Band history

The band was founded in the spring of 2010 by Lukas Plöchl (stage name G-Neila ) and his bandmate Manuel Hoffelner (stage name Manix ), a student from Leopoldschlag at the University of Applied Sciences for Business Professions. The name of the band came about during the founding phase of the decision to start at the UHS band contest in Freistadt. At this point, however, the band had no songs together. The band needed at least six songs to be able to take part in this band contest, which, according to the band members, were subsequently "kicked out" six tracks in eight days. The Trackshittaz first became known in 2010 via the Internet platform YouTube . A parody of the title Alors on danse by Belgian rapper Stromae , recorded under the title Alloa bam Fraunz , was clicked more than 100,000 times within a short period of time.

From October 2010 to January 2011 Plöchl participated in the talent show heroes of tomorrow of the ORF in part. After his appearance on the first show, the two musicians were titled Oida taunz! signed by Sony Music . The song reached number 1 in the Austrian single charts at the beginning of November. It is the first Austrian title that was published download only and immediately entered the Austrian charts at number 1. This position was also achieved with Guuugarutz , which appeared in January 2011.

In autumn 2010 Trackshittaz was nominated for the Austrian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 and reached second place. The second album from July 2011, Prolettn feian langaah , like the debut, immediately reached number 1 and was awarded a gold record by the music industry. With the non-album track Touchdown they contributed the official song for the Football World Cup. In autumn 2011, her song Schnitzi was featured in the soundtrack for the David Schalko film adaptation of Thomas Glavinic's novel How one should live .

Trackshittaz (2014)

In 2012 Trackshittaz again took part in the national preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 , Austria rocks the Song Contest . With the song Woki mit deim Popo they won ahead of Conchita Wurst , who won the ESC two years later. At the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku they were eliminated in the semifinals by finishing last of 18 participants with eight points. Hoffelner injured his knee during the performance. After a two-year hiatus, their fourth album, # TS4, was released in March 2014. There were also two pre-singles, Gmiatlich Dreschn and Schuachblattlaboogie .

On July 24, 2015, Plöchl and Hoffelner announced the breakup of the band. The reasons they cited were the great wear and tear and too high a time investment.

style

The trackshittaz style is often referred to as the Traktorgängsta party rap and is similar to the hip-hop form Dirty South . Most of her songs consist of simple raps and are based on electronic beats.

The duo's affiliation to the hip-hop scene is controversial. The Trackshittaz do not see themselves as classic representatives of this genre.
