Alors on danse (about Let's dance ) is a French-language hip-House - Song of the Belgian rapper and music producer Stromae from the year of 2009.
Emergence
Musically shaped since early childhood, the music producer Stromae managed to get a record deal with Because Music and Kilomaître in 2008. In 2009 he worked as a volunteer at the Belgian radio station Radio NRJ . At the same time, he published instructional videos on YouTube and began to publish his own songs. His program manager at Radio NRJ liked the song Alors on danse so much that he included it in the rotation . From then on, the song was played on other European radios and was finally released as a single on September 26, 2009.
The song became known in the United States in 2010 when a remix with a guest part by Kanye West was released there.
Music genre
Alors on danse is a sparingly orchestrated house song in the style of the 1980s, which mainly relies on electro and little acoustics. Stromae uses a warm voice and a catchy rhythm. A sampled saxophone was used as a musical instrument , which creates an unusual rhythm and melody. Although his singing is based on the rap style, in that it is relatively verbose, it is not rap in the strict sense of the word. The vocals are more based on French songwriters and give the song a pompous sound.
Music video
Stromae is in the office at the beginning of the video. After a hard day at work, he wants to visit his child, but is shown by the mother outside the door. Then a homeless man steals his coat. Then he goes to a pub and gets drunk. At first he doesn't have a lot of fun, but over time he starts partying and singing in front of an audience. After his performance, he passed out and was put back at his workplace in the first scene by an unknown man.
Chart history
Alors on danse was Stromae's debut single. The song stayed at the top of the charts for five weeks in Belgium , Austria and Switzerland . In Germany, the song topped the charts for two weeks, making it the first French-language number 1 hit since France Gall's Ella, elle l'a , a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald . In France, the album stayed at number 1 for ten weeks and in the Netherlands for eight weeks. In the summer, the song also made it to the top of the charts in some Eastern European countries, for example in the Czech Republic for five weeks and in Romania for two weeks.
