Cesár Sampson (born August 18, 1983 in Linz ) is an Austrian singer and musician . He represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon and reached third place.

Life

His mother, Kathy Sampson, sang A Good Friend , the theme song of the well-known crime series Inspector Rex , in the 1990s . He is the nephew of the singer Helen "Pepsi" DeMacque-Crockett of the duo Pepsi & Shirlie known from the eighties . As a child, he stood in front of the camera in a music video by La Toya Jackson .

Sampson worked as a social worker for years. He has also been active in the music business as a producer for years, including with the producer collective Symphonix International.

On December 5, 2017, the ORF announced that Sampson Austria would be represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon . However, the song wasn't presented until March 8, 2018. Sampson was on the stage for Bulgaria as a background singer in the previous two years . In the 1st semifinals of the Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on May 8, 2018, Sampson qualified for the finals of the music competition on May 12, 2018, where he took third place for Austria.

Sampson is a vegetarian.
