Eric Papilaya

Eric Papilaya (born June 9, 1978 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian musician.

Life

Eric Papilaya is the son of an Indonesian and an Austrian. He is a trained graphic artist. At the age of 15 he founded the band "Milk", with which he played for 13 years.

In 2008/2007 he took part in the third season of the talent show Starmania under the stage name "Ric" . He reached fifth place there and presented his song Everything that you are . After a legal dispute with an artist who had previously used a similar sounding name, he renounced the artist name "Ric". In 2007 Papilaya represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest . There he sang the official life ball song 2007, Get a Life - Get Alive , but was eliminated in the semifinals with the 27th and penultimate place. At the end of 2007 Papilaya took part in the “ The New Austrians ” campaign on radio station Ö3 and contributed to the resulting song Kinder . Until 2009 he took part in several Starmania tours.

From 2010 to 2012, Papilaya hosted the program Music Nuggets on the television station ServusTV . In 2012 he released the singles Time to Fly and Ready to Move . The latter song was used as the opener of the Austrian Football League on Sky . In 2013 Eric Papilaya released the single ILD I love you . He took part as a singer and performer in the show Musical Rocks! .

In autumn 2013 a collaboration with Norbert Oberhauser , Volker Piesczek and Pepe Schütz began under the name The Rats Are Back . In 2014 the album One Night Only was released. In the summer of 2014, Eric Papilaya played with a band as the opener for Xavier Naidoo in front of almost 12,000 people in Ansfelden near Linz . In the same year the single New Day was released. 2017 followed, again with The Rats Are Back , after the single Tanzen the album Bad Boys , produced by Alexander Kahr . In this album, the four entertainers set their own songs in predominantly German.

Papilaya lives in Neulengbach. In September 2015 he married his long-time partner Julia Leonhartmair.
