Timna Brauer (2013)

Timna Brauer ( Hebrew תמנה בראואר; * May 1, 1961 in Vienna ) is a singer and is also active in other artistic fields.

Life

The daughter of the Austrian painter Arik Brauer and an Israeli from Yemen studied piano and singing at the Vienna Conservatory. She did her doctorate at the Sorbonne on “The Voice in Jazz” and attended master classes in opera (among others with Elisabeth Grümmer ), in Indian singing and in jazz singing (at the CIM in Paris). Since 1985 she has performed with her long-time musical partner, the pianist Elias Meiri , with the "Timna Brauer & Elias Meiri Ensemble".

In 1998 Timna Brauer played 'Jenny' in the Threepenny Opera with the Ensemble Modern Frankfurt (recording by BMG), with whom she also appeared at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. In 2001 she played Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita in the Klagenfurt Summer Stage. From 2002 to 2004 she toured Europe with the Palestinian-Israeli choir group “Voices for Peace”, for which Meiri and Brauer also arranged songs. Brauer also writes children's songs.

Since 1995 she has been teaching jazz singing at the University of Vienna.

Miscellaneous

In 1986 Timna Brauer was the Austrian participant in the Eurovision Song Contest in Norway. She reached 18th place with the song Time is lonely .

In 2004 Timna Brauer created the musical fairy tale The Enthusiastic Drums for Telekom Austria Kinderklangwolke in Linz .

In the 3rd season of the Austrian Dancing Stars , beginning on March 9, 2007, she took part, but left early.
