Elias Meiri
Elias Meiri (* 1959 in Petah-Tikwa in Israel ) is a jazz pianist.
Life
Meiri started playing the piano at the age of four. He later graduated from Talma Yalin High School in Tel Aviv and studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston .
He then worked with celebrities such as Dizzy Gillespie , David Liebman and Steve Grossman . In 1985 he won second place in the international jazz competition in Leverkusen , and then first place in the international competition in Hoilaart in Belgium . In 1987 he was first in the international competition for jazz pianists in Kalicz , Poland . He has lived in Vienna since 1987 . The duo, consisting of himself and his musical partner Timna Brauer, who took part in festivals such as Montreux , Paris , Lugano and Vienna , won the international jazz competition in La Défense in 1990 . In the same year the two presented their own television show in Austria.
He also plays in the Elias Meiri Trio , teaches piano and improvisation and devotes himself to the composition and production of his CDs.
Meiri and Timna Brauer have two adult children together, a daughter and a son.
