Nathan Trent , actually Nathanaele Koll , (born April 4, 1992 in Innsbruck , Tyrol ) is an Austrian singer . He represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev .

Life

Nathanaele Koll is the son of Reinhard Koll, violinist in the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck , and an Italian mother. He grew up bilingual, with German and Italian . At the age of three he learned violin and piano and as a child appeared in musicals on the theater stage.

In 2003, Trent took part in the Kiddy Contest . In 2011 he reached eleventh place as a member of the group "Boyz II Hot" in the second season of the German singing casting show X Factor .

After finishing school, Trent went to Vienna , where he studied musical entertainment theater at the Music and Art University of the City of Vienna . In addition to his training, which he completed in 2016, he has appeared on numerous theater stages, including the Theater in der Josefstadt and the Wiener Metropol .

In June 2016, Trent released his debut single Like It Is .

Before Trent was selected as Austria's candidate on December 19, 2016, he was also among the 33 candidates who were listed as Germany's ESC candidates in Our Song 2017 . On February 27th, his song Running on Air was published, which he wrote and composed with Bernard Penzian. On May 11th, he finally entered the second semifinals with starting number 2, in which he was able to qualify for the final. In the final on May 13th in Kiev he reached 16th place.
