Lukas Plöchl (born April 28, 1989 ), also known as Wendja and G-Neila , is an Austrian rapper from Freistadt . He first became known as a solo musician, three years later through the hip-hop duo Trackshittaz and his participation in the casting show Heroes of Tomorrow on ORF , where he came second.

Life

Lukas Plöchl's father Liu Yan Jun comes from China and is the trainer of the Austrian women's table tennis team. Sport was very important to Plöchl from a young age, where he completed both table tennis and football training before he became interested in music and bodybuilding. After attending the commercial academy in Freistadt, he began to study business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

From 2007 Lukas Plöchl appeared as G-Neila - a modification of the vernacular expression tschinein (High German: to work ). His song Öz Pedan achieved national fame through distribution on YouTube. The song was initially a self-produced ringtone, which quickly spread within Plöchl's school and eventually made it onto the Internet.

In the spring of 2010, Lukas Plöchl and Manuel Hoffelner founded the Trackshittaz duo, which a few months later attracted media attention with a parody of the song Alors on danse with the title Alloa bam Fraunz (High German: Alone with Franz ). From October 22, 2010 to January 28, 2011, Plöchl took part in the ORF casting show Heroes of Tomorrow , which further increased awareness of Trackshittaz and himself. In the end, he finished second behind Cornelia Mooswalder .

Even during Heroes of Tomorrow , several Trackshittaz singles made it into the Austrian charts, where they mostly reached the top 10 or even top positions several times. The success persisted even after the show.

Aside from the trackshittaz, Plöchl made it into the charts with a cover of Falco's Vienna Calling recorded with Massimo Schena , as well as with the single Rock the Galaxy recorded with Cornelia Mooswalder .

Trackshittaz represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan with the title Woki mit deim Popo . They were eliminated in the semi-finals in last place, which led to very negative reporting in Austria. The ambivalent relationship to TV, print and online media was the subject of the Trackshittaz in the video clip for the single Geila ois .

On March 15, 2013 Plöchl released the single Du host ned des Recht , which also appeared on his first solo album Lukas Plöchl on April 5, 2013. While the single missed the Austrian sales charts, the album reached number 4. The singles Freiheit and Am Meer were also released.

Apart from his career as a musician, Plöchl got the role of the antagonist Felix in 2013 in the ORF co-produced movie Rise Up! And dance . He was a member of the jury for the TV music show Herz von Österreich on the Puls 4 channel, which was broadcast in 2014 .

Since the Trackshittaz split in July 2015, Plöchl has called himself Wendja based on his Chinese name.

On May 20, 2016, the first single "Vermessung der Welt" was released under the name Wendja. This was followed in 2016 by the singles "Stadt, Land, Fluss", "Regen Tanz" and "Abriss Austria".

The album "Poet & Prolet" followed on February 17, 2017. Besides the singles that have already been released, it contains other songs that go in versatile and varied directions.

Since summer 2018, Wendja has been independent of a label, management, etc., does everything independently, has his own label '' Wait a minute! Records '' and since then has released the singles '' Leb dein Leben '', '' Wenn ich geht '' and '' Für die Liebe ''.

On January 28, 2019, Wendja was a guest at Treffpunkt Österreich on Hitradio Ö3.
