Daniel Ridwan "Budi" Budiman (born May 25, 1983 in Flensburg ) is a German presenter .

From 2003 to 2006 he was a moderator at GIGA and then developed the computer game program Game One together with Simon Krätschmer , where he moderated and produced from 2006 to 2014. He is co-founder and presenter of the media production company Rocket Beans Entertainment GmbH , founded in 2011 , of which he was co-managing director until 2014.

Life

Budiman was born the third child into an Indonesian family. He has a sister and a brother.

He attended the German International School Jakarta and the Immanuel-Kant -Gymnasium in Bad Oeynhausen , where he graduated from high school . There he worked as a student representative and in the school choir.

In parallel to his moderation of Game One , Budiman studied philosophy for two semesters at the University of Hamburg .

Career

2003–2010 GIGA and foundation of Game One

Budiman worked at GIGA from August 2003 to March 2006. There he first moderated the television program GIGA GAMES . Budiman later switched to their branch program GIGA eSports , through which he ran together with Etienne Gardé . Budiman left GIGA and designed the TV program MTV Game One for MTV with his former colleague Simon Krätschmer , where he worked as a presenter and producer from September 2006. The show later ran under the name Game One on MTV , VIVA and Comedy Central and was awarded the audience prize of the Grimme Online Award in 2011 . The broadcast was discontinued in 2014, the last episode ran on December 23, 2014. Budiman also hosted the match days of the first season of the eSport Bundesliga .

From April 2008 to October 2010 he wrote with Simon Krätschmer the Budimon - Column for the Internet portal DerWesten.de.

In 2010, he and Simon Krätschmer gave a laudation for the German Computer Game Prize during the award ceremony .

Budiman also worked for the first time on German children's television. In the fall of 2010 and in the spring of 2011, he presented the television show Disney XD Quad Cup , in which young people have to face tasks on quads . The program was initially broadcast on the encrypted Disney XD channel and shortly thereafter also on Super RTL .

From 2011 to 2014

In October 2011 Budiman founded the media production company Rocket Beans Entertainment GmbH with Simon Krätschmer , Etienne Gardé, Nils Bomhoff and Arno Heinisch . He was managing director of the company together with Arno Heinisch until September 23, 2014, but then resigned because of the birth of his second child. Since then, the position has been occupied exclusively by Arno Heinisch. The company has been running the YouTube channel Rocket Beans TV since 2012 , for which he often appeared as a presenter. In 2014, the channel received the German Web Video Award for one of the videos .

In July 2012 he started his moderation on KiKA with the show Web vs. Celebrity . The last broadcast took place in December 2014 on KIKA.

In 2013 he moderated a conference on game design as part of the Red Dot Design Awards . He then took part in the competition as part of the jury in 2014 and evaluated in the Game Design category.

From 2015 Rocket Beans TV

After Game One was discontinued, Rocket Beans Entertainment decided to transfer the concept of the YouTube channel Rocket Beans TV to a daily broadcaster. The station of the same name was launched on January 15, 2015 and will from now on broadcast program content on the Twitch streaming portal and, since September 1, 2016, on YouTube . In June 2015, the station was awarded the 2015 Web Video Prize for its services over the past year.

Budiman mainly moderates formats for computer games at the station. He was co-presenter in individual programs on the subject of e-sports and, together with the eSport academy BONJWA , oversaw the Archon Cup eSport tournament . He was also a regular co-host of the show Bohn Jour and is a guest host in talk formats such as Almost Daily .

Together with Carsten “Trant” Grauel, he is the producer of the game show Inside PlayStation for Sony Computer Entertainment , which was first broadcast in May 2015. The program has been running on the Internet since September 1, 2016 via YouTube (previously Twitch).

In February 2017 Daniel Budiman and his colleagues Etienne Gardé, Nils Bomhoff and Simon Krätschmer from Rocket Beans TV received the German Television Award in the category "best entertainment moderation".

Private

Budiman has been married since 2009 and became a father for the first time at the end of April 2012. In 2014 and 2017 he had two more children.
