Web video price Germany
The German Web Video Prize was awarded from 2011 to 2018 by the European Web Video Academy to outstanding and innovative web videos in blogs or on video platforms. The award was aimed at both amateurs and professional participants. The prize was awarded for the first time on February 20, 2011 in the Astra Theater in Essen as part of the German Web Video Days 2011.
The Academy
The European Web Video Academy GmbH (EWVA), based in Düsseldorf , was founded at the end of 2011. The Academy of the German Web Video Prize determines and announces the nominations for the German Web Video Prize competition in accordance with its statutes. The Academy is represented by the Academy Presidium, which as of 2016 consisted of Vice Presidents Florian Mundt , Jan Winter , Max Krüger, Lucia Haslauer and President Marie Meimberg .
The EWVA's managing directors are the two co-founders Markus Hündgen aka Videopunk and Dimitrios Argirakos. Beginning in January 2016 was the EWVA from marketers Ströer Media majority adopted .
Conditions of participation
Video suggestions can be submitted in advance for the various categories that meet the applicable conditions of participation. As of 2017, the following conditions apply in particular:
- The video must have been distributed over the Internet.
- Works and people from Germany are entitled to participate.
- The videos must be suitable for young people and comply with applicable law (e.g. copyright and personal rights ).
- Organizers, sponsors and service providers commissioned by the organizer are excluded from participating in the competition.
Individual awards
2011
In 2011, the jury chaired the journalist Mario Sixtus ( electrical reporter ). The other jury members were the ZDF editor Katharina Dufner, the MTV presenter Simon Krätschmer , the podcaster Philipp Riederle and Jörg Sadrozinski, editor-in-chief of tagesschau.de and designated head of the German School of Journalism in Munich.
Between January 8 and February 1, 2011, nominations could be sent to the jury on the official website of the web video award. The nominations were published on February 8th. A total of over 4,000 videos were submitted for the competition.

2012
The award ceremony took place on March 31st at the Savoy Theater in Düsseldorf. In 2012, the jury was made up of Katrin Bauerfeind , Milena Bonse , Daniel Budiman , Kathrin Fricke , Florian Hager and Holger Kreymeier , the jury chaired again by Mario Sixtus . Between December 15, 2011 and January 31, 2012, the jury received 6,752 suggestions, which is an increase over the previous year. The jury selected 24 videos and sorted them into categories. These have been changed compared to the previous year and this year are based on the hashtags with which videos can be marked on YouTube . Thus, the categories do not correspond to the classic variants such as Best Singer or Best Series , but the classifications of Internet users. Therefore, Markus Hündgen, who initiated the 2011 Web Video Prize, does not rule out that the categories will also be changed in the future.
From March 1 to March 29, 2012, interested Internet users were able to vote on the audience award. The German Web Video Prize 2012 was awarded on March 31, 2012 in the Savoy Theater in Düsseldorf. The gala was moderated by Christoph Krachten .

2013
On May 25, 2013, the 2013 Web Video Prize was awarded in the Capitol Theater in Düsseldorf. Previously, out of more than 4,000 videos submitted, six per category were put to the vote. 50% of the decision was made by a jury consisting of Holger Kreymeier , Klaus Kauker , Sascha Pallenberg , Lu Hasslauer and Richard Gutjahr and 50% was a vote among internet users in which more than 300,000 users had participated.
The award ceremony was moderated for the first time by Miriam Pielhau in front of almost 1,000 spectators. Due to the great interest, the organizers had to switch to a larger venue than planned. Prize winners were awarded in 13 categories (2012: 9 categories).

The 2014 Web Video Prize was awarded on May 24, 2014 in the Capitol Theater in Düsseldorf . The event was moderated by Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf . Marti Fischer commented on the respective video teasers.

2015
On June 13, 2015, the German Web Video Prize was awarded for the fifth time. The event was moderated by Christian Ulmen . The award ceremony could be seen in the digital television program EinsPlus . For the first time, some ARD stations , such as NDR and WDR , as well as the Swiss television broadcaster SRF also broadcast a live broadcast on the Internet. The production company Kimming Entertainment, which last hosted the Echo Awards in 2015 , was commissioned to realize the event .

On June 4, 2016, the sixth award of the German Web Video Award took place in Castello Düsseldorf . Originally, as in the previous year, Christian Ulmen was supposed to moderate, but he canceled for health reasons. Instead, the founders of the station Rocket Beans TV Nils Bomhoff , Daniel Budiman , Etienne Gardé and Simon Krätschmer appeared as presenters. The hymn and music for the gala were composed by Klaus Kauker .

criticism
David Hain and HandOfBlood , members of the Web Video Academy and nominees in the "Opinion" category, have criticized the 2017 Web Video Award and the nominees and announced that they would not accept the Web Video Award should they win. As a member of the Academy, they felt too little involved this year and disagreed with some of the nominees at all.
2018
The 2018 winners were the channel maiLab with the contribution Fluoride and Toothpaste - The Whole Truth , AlexiBexi with the Video Code , Julien Bam with the 4 million subscriber special , De Changeman with Deborah and the Cologne association Anyway with the web series Kuntergrau . Person of the Year was Natasha Ziegler with the channel "nobeautychannel". The rapper Eko Fresh and the video producer Can Özev received the special award for social responsibility for the music video Aber .
