Stondon Massey is a village in south Essex , England . It is north of Brentwood between Blackmore and Doddinghurst .
history
Originally a farmhouse, Stondon Place was the home of William Byrd from 1593 to 1623 .
Most of the village is just over a mile south of the church, believed to be due to the plague in 1350.
