German Web Video Award 2014
The German Web Video Prize 2014 was awarded on May 24, 2014 in the Capitol Theater in Düsseldorf.

history
The web video award has been presented by the European Web Video Academy GmbH since 2011. Outstanding and innovative web videos in blogs or on video platforms are honored. The price is aimed at both amateurs and professional participants.
Conditions of participation
Video suggestions can be submitted in advance for the various categories, which must meet the following conditions:
- The participating videos must have been specially produced for the Internet.
- They cannot be older than a year.
- The content must be in German and suitable for young people.
- The videos must not contain any material that violates copyright law.
- Jury members or organizers of the event must not have contributed to a work.
Moderation
The presenters of the gala were the German comedians Joko Winterscheidt & Klaas Heufer-Umlauf .
Selection process
From the almost 7,000 videos submitted, 78 entries were nominated by a jury of experts and divided into 13 categories, each with six nominees. Half of the winners were chosen by the jury, made up of former web video award winners, and the other half by viewers, who were able to vote for their favorites online every day.
spectator
The Capitol Theater in Düsseldorf offered space for 1,100 guests. The live stream on YouTube was followed by around 358,000 people.
Nominees and winners
At the 2014 Web Video Prize, ten awards were presented in nine categories. The comedian duo DieAussenseiter received the Academy's honorary award .

Die Zeit referred to the web video award as the "Oscars of the YouTube generation". It was criticized that the event was a "testosterone-laden affair" and that it was dominated by riot and sexism. The female YouTubers have been completely hidden. The rapper Shneezin , who bared his penis during the gala , also caused a stir .
